3 of the best Noosa restaurants championing local produce

Noosa's vibrant dining scene boasts an array of world-class restaurants, with an increasing number dedicated to championing local produce and sustainable farming practices. Among them, three establishments stand out for their commitment to the cause, from embracing a farm-to-table philosophy to incorporating native ingredients, these restaurants prioritise the reduction of food miles – without compromising the dining experience. If you need any more reason to check them out, they're also all recent recipients of chef's hats in the 2024 AGFG awards. Bon appetit!

Locale Noosa

At Locale Noosa, the essence of authentic Italian food shines through with simple, well-executed dishes and a deep respect for ingredients. With a passion for traditional Italian produce, the restaurant sources from their own hinterland farm, Maravista Farm. The former Macadamia grove now grows an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables for a handful of restaurants around town. The farm, boasting fertile land and thriving citrus groves, supplies fresh vegetables, honey, and even Ultra Black cattle. In return, Locale Noosa completes the cycle by transforming all food waste into compost, ensuring a sustainable farm-to-plate experience that honours both the environment and the dining experience.

Lanai Noosa

Perched elegantly overlooking the tranquil Noosa River, Lanai Noosa offers a harmonious blend of refinement and relaxation, in stunning interiors. Its menu showcases a diverse array of shareable dishes, highlighting sustainably sourced seafood, native ingredients, and locally crafted artisan products. From Coral Coast barramundi with native bearnaise, saltbush, and finger lime, to locally sourced chicken skewers infused with lemon myrtle, kombu butter, and black garlic, Lanai's coastal-inspired offerings reflect a commitment to responsibly sourced produce and culinary excellence.

Embassy XO

A cherished Sunshine Beach institution, Embassy XO has long been delighting regular diners with its fusion of traditional Chinese cooking techniques and south east Asian influences. With a menu that evolves with the seasons, Embassy XO showcases the best of locally sourced produce, much of it grown at the restaurants’ hinterland farm, and operates with a farm-to-table philosophy that emphasises the flavours of the Noosa Hinterland. From delicate dumplings, to steamed zucchini flowers and char-grilled lemongrass chicken with nam jim salad, each dish embodies a dedication to fresh, locally-grown produce, and authentic Asian flavours. The restaurant's commitment extends beyond the kitchen, with a focus on waste reduction and supporting other local growers and producers, making Embassy XO a beacon of sustainable dining in Noosa.
