Tourism Noosa’s Trade & Business Events Manager Vynka Hutton has joined Tourism and Events Queensland and 44 tourism businesses on the Queensland is Calling trade roadshow to New Zealand this week, to reinvigorate the market.
New Zealand remains in Noosa’s top 3 priority markets, with Kiwis motivated by Australian beaches, coastal experiences, family holidays and our warmer climate.
More New Zealand travellers are now looking for food-related experiences, premium travel options and activities that provide more meaningful engagement with the destination.
Visitor data for Queensland shows tourism spend by New Zealanders increased 128% on 2019, to $581.4 million. There was a move to 4 and 5-star properties and an average length of stay of 8 nights.
Queensland is Calling visits Auckland and Christchurch, meeting with contacts in media outlets, Tourism Australia, wholesale partners and retail travel agents, promoting experiences and products.
With our competitor international destinations becoming more expensive with inflation and exchange rates, Queensland is more appealing than ever for the New Zealand market.
Tourism Noosa is joined by our members Zoe Jennings (Culgoa Point, Noosa Blue and Noosa Lakes Resorts), Aqua Duck, Tasman Venture, Accor Group (Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, The Sebel Noosa, Mantra French Quarter), Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat (via Pinnacle Marketing), and SeaLink (K’gari Explorer Tours and Kingfisher Bay).
