The Butter Factory Arts Centre is a creative hub in the hinterland town of Cooroy, with serene spaces for art exhibitions, workshops and events.
The Cooroy Butter Factory building is part of Cooroy's rich heritage. It was built in 1930, taking the place of the original timber factory constructed in 1915. It ceased trading in 1975 and was purchased in 1991 to be used as a creative hub.
Visit the factory to view current art exhibitions from local and touring artists, join a workshop program that caters to all ages and keep your eye out for events held throughout the year.
The Cooroy Future Group runs the historic centre. There's also a separate pottery studio and artist-run cooperative gift shop with handmade pottery, jewellery, cards and much more.
The Butter Factory Arts Centre is a friendly and supportive environment for new and established artists working in any media, and welcomes exhibition proposals from artists, collectives and curators for group or solo exhibitions in several gallery spaces.
The centre helps artists in their experimentation and growth, and brings exciting work to the public, with a sense of community among exhibitors and viewers.
The Butter Factory Arts Centre is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm (closed public holidays). Entry is free.
