Susan Schmidt is an award winning international artist who paints contemporary, figurative works with abstract elements and surprises. She has exhibited in solo and selected exhibitions since 1998 and since 2012 internationally in New York, London, Singapore, Istanbul and The Maldives.
Underpinned by concern for the environment and sustainable living her works invite appreciation for the taken for granted.
Her continuing ‘Seaburbia’ series documents the original fibro beach houses on the coast, reflecting the essence of coastal living and recalling the value of a more simple life.
Creating from her Noosa Heads studio Susan’s use of colour, form, line and pattern is stand apart. The combination of precision, depth and richness of these elements creates images that visually verge on abstraction but simultaneously tap into the shared emotional nostalgia for all the summers past conflated with hope for all of those to come.
